I'm Ardal Powell. I work with individuals, families, and organizations in the Hudson Valley and beyond who are planning their financial future.

By experiencing and navigating change in my own business and personal journey, I feel fortunate to have acquired a broad range of life and professional experience, allied with a talent for creative problem solving. Such hard-won knowledge and abilites gives me the right perspective, skills, and empathy to help clients plan for and adapt to life's changes, both planned and unforeseen.

As well as being insurance licensed by New York and other states, and in addition to holding a securities registration with FINRA, I am authorized to offer life insurance and lifetime income annuity products from New York Life to AARP members. I am Certified in Long-Term Care to be able to address this key aspect of retirement planning. Ardal Powell, M.A., Ph.D., CLTC

My diverse working roles have called for inventive approaches, continuous learning, and constant rethinking of conventional wisdom.

A native of England, my parents were musicians in the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. After taking my degree at the University of Cambridge I moved to The Netherlands for graduate study in music, and then to the U.S., where I co-founded an international musical instrument making company and became a citizen.

During 25 years in the musical instrument business I became the world's leading authority on the history of the flute and flute-playing. My prizewinning research drove me to study and teach the sociology of culture and technology in order to find meaningful concepts to explain historical processes to the public. I went on to hold business development positions in the rapidly changing publishing industry.

This long and varied experience in business management, innovation, and research has equipped me with a vast toolkit of insight to serve the financial needs of each individual client. My personal story illustrates the central value of planning and analysis in achieving success and financial security. I understand small business owners' concerns because I have walked many miles in their shoes. With my roots in education and performing arts, I know the role non-profits and philanthropy play in these fundamental social projects, as well as the benefits donors can achieve by supporting them.

I welcome and personally attend to inquiries from individuals, professional associations, businesses, and nonprofits about establishing a working relationship.
